Late Mr. Ashwin S. Dani
Visionary Leadership & Innovation
  • Late Mr. Ashwin Suryakant Dani, Founder and Chairman of Hitech Group of Companies, was a visionary and technocrat with a clear focus on innovation-led solutions.
  • He was instrumental in introducing advanced technologies in India, including Computerised Colour Matching and Indigenous Paint Technology, concepts now widely used across paints, plastics, textiles, and printing inks—all core chemical applications.
  • His leadership fostered an environment of scientific temperament, innovation, and contribution that continues to guide Hitech Specialities growth.
Educational & Technical Expertise

After having completed his Bachelor of Science from the Institute of Science, University of Mumbai and Bachelor of Science and Technology in pigments, paints and varnish from UDCT (now known as ICT), Mumbai, he completed his Master's in polymer science from University of Akron, Ohio, United States and Diploma in colour science from Rensselaer Polytechnic, Troy, New York, United States. He then gained work experience as a Development Chemist with Inmont Corp. (now known as BASF) in Detroit, USA, a major supplier of automotive OEM and refinishes.

Due to his strong belief in the Indian values which were imparted to him by his family while growing up he was always an Indian at heart and decided to return to India. He took it upon himself to make a mark on the Indian landscape. He recognised the value of education that he had received and was determined to impart the same through technological advances in the Indian diaspora.

Industry Contributions
  • Joined Asian Paints in 1968 as a Senior Executive and then successfully moved up the ladder to attain senior positions like Director-R&D, Works Director, Whole-time Director, Managing Director and Vice Chairman.
  • Recognized as the main architect behind several technological innovations in India’s coatings and allied chemical sectors.
  • Values & Legacy
    • Strong believer in the role of education and technological advancement for India’s industrial growth.
    • His humility and leadership built enduring respect and admiration, values that continue to define Hitech Group.
    • Legacy being carried forward by his family with continued focus on innovation, sustainability, and people-centric growth.
    • He was an ardent yoga practitioner and a disciple of the world famous Yogacharya, B.K.S. Iyengar. Having realized the potential of yoga to transform humanity itself, he contributed to the spread of yoga through various initiatives.
    • His legacy is being carried forward by his family headed by the matriarch Mrs Ina Ashwin Dani.

Started offering benchmarking speciality additives like wetting, dispersing agents and defoamers to paints, coatings and allied market.

Introduction of products that reduce VOC in solvent-based paints. Expanded product range like organoclays, associative thickeners, speciality defoamer & wetting and dispersing range.

Entry into the leather and wood coating market with groundbreaking matting agents

Entered the biocide segment with the introduction of Thor Specialities’ products to the Indian market.

2009

Introduced the MHEC product range to enter the tile adhesive and cement putty market. Also, launched HEC from Lotte to offer value addition to the Paint market

2012

Set up an application laboratory in Powai to provide customer support

2016

Developed a portfolio for the personal care segment.

2017

Developed a portfolio for the food and nutraceuticals category.

2022

Introduced a portfolio for the adhesive segment, including Hotmelt technology for the wood, textile and packaging markets.
